Is it Bleach that is the problem? Or is it you or it could be your stylist.
Is bleach the enemy it's often portrayed to be?
Or could the real issue lie elsewhere? We are delving deep into all things BLEACH exploring its potential as a gentle tool when treated like the chemical agent it is and it should only used by experts and with care.
Understanding the Process: Ok so what does bleach do?
Bleaching, a process of lightening hair by removing its natural pigment. Although we all have different natural hair colours, essentially hair is made up of Black, red orange and yellow pigments. And this what is removed during the bleaching process.
We could never get you hair to a true white as this means you would have 0 pigment left, resulting in you taking your hair home in a bag π£
Bleach needs to be handled with caution and care if you came into a salon with a dark brown and wanted to leave white white this may be possible but you hair would have to be natural and no previous colour, well if you do you must be willing to have a good cut to remove it. why? because we not only have to work with your natural pigments like we said before red ORANGE etc, we then have to work with the artificial colour that you have had previously and believe me you will be having more bands in your hair then reading and leads.
Are we saying you can never go from your previously dark coloured hair to bright Elsa blonde? Well no but you need to find the right stylist that is going to take you on a journey. You are pig to have to prepare yourself to have various colours in-between. Orange being one, warm tones, yes even if you want your hair ashy you have to lift your own hair ti the cleanest blonde first which guess what? still has YELLOW in it. A lot of times we find that clients with horror stories of bad bleaching is those home kits, like discussed earlier you cannot get you hair white WHITE with just bleach this is hen toning comes into it. We as hairdressers have our very own bible. The colour wheel and honestly we couldnβt do hair colour without it. Opposite the yellow on the colour wheel is violet and a lot of the time when we are bleaching we are adding violet into your as a toner to counteract the yellow that has been left but the bleach. And these home kits are not only cheap and nasty but they are leaving you with raw nasty pigment on your hair that is GLOWING like a warm light bulb.
And thatβs not all. YOU yes YOU have to put in the work too. Now your hair has been bleached is more fragile thank of all the pigments we have taken away to get you lighter, your hair is more fragile. you have to look after tat home and if your not willing to use the products your stylist is recommending or the silk pillow cases and silk scrunchies ad donβt even think bout going to in the sun without a hat! then maybe bleaching isnβt for you. When done correctly and looked after Bleached hair is BEAUTIFUl and is worth it.
2024 is the year of Hair health so can bleach be a[part of this? Yes it can BUT it has to be used correctly you have to put the work in at home and lets not forget getting the blonde of your dreams is a marathon not a sprint.
